Thick as a Brick: 0
Program Music I: 1

I do enjoy Thick as a Brick, but seeing as this is my challenger, and an album I think is really excellent... naturally...

yeah, I've heard Program Music 1 by now, interesting layers, orchestral soundscapes, bits where it's almost soundtrack-y and drum n bass/dubstep parts, not to mention crackling static where I thought my download has some errors

overtakes TAAB by a mile

Program Music 1 - 2
TAAB - 0

Huh, now I'm interested. Guess I'll have to listen.

EDIT

Listened to it. PM1 beats Thick by miles and miles. Really interesting, cool material.

Program Music 1 - 3
TAAB - 0

I agree with Howard's description about the KD album, it was an impressive album to listen to, but I will probably never listen to it again. The Jethro Tull album though, is just so much better to sleep to.

I won't vote yet because I haven't listened to the challenger yet. For anyone interested, here's a great review on it. I'm going to spin it a few times, and then vote, but you all probably know, it is highly doubtful that it will beat out TAAB for me.

I'll take votes until Wednesday afternoon and unless we get more votes or a tie, I'll set up the next battle.

AND!!! Do you guys want to keep the current theme or do you want a new one? Let me know!

I'm not sick of this yet. I really want to see if we can get more than two wins out of someone. Maybe it would be more effective if we lowered it to 3 wins?

New theme would be good, as would maybe an even tighter criteria when deciding albums within the decided theme.

As for the current theme, put in Close to the Edge and that will obliterate the competition

That will be a tight one for me. The two top contenders for my favorite prog album of all time, and both from prog's hallmark year (1972).

My Vote in this one goes to TAAB

Well I gave Program Music I a few spins, and it's good. However, I don't feel like it's something that I would listen to on purpose, I actually left my computer without realizing that I'd left the music on. TAAB acts--in my eyes--as an album that I would purposefully listen to and to do so both attentively and passively. Program Music I is an album that I would listen to passively, be it during meditation, sleep, etc. So my vote shall be going to the LSD Pied Piper.

Program Music I -3
TAAB -2
