Well *shels is mediocre for its genre. Could not find myself enjoying the album on the two listens that I gave it. Satori it is para mi.

Satori - 2
Plains of the Purple Buffalo - 0

Listened to the *Shels album and wasn't really that impressed with it, so no real doubt really here.

Satori -3
Plains of the Purple Buffalo - 0

Plains of the Purple Buffalo is a great post-rock opus and whatnot but man, is it boring or what?

Satori is still tops for me

Satori - 4
PotPB - 0

Satori - 4
Plains of the Purple Buffalo - 1

I think Purple Buffalo made my top 20 last year. I didn't think it was nearly as dull as most of the post-rock I've heard, and has a lot of beautiful moments. It's getting my point.

We have our first 3-peat in the Beat the Champ era! Satori hunts Plains of the Purple Buffalo to extinction, 4-1. Satori is half way to being crowned the "The Best Sophomore Album" but it need's to get past Jack Pat's newest suggestion. (Don't worry! I have found this album for download pretty easily and it's on youtube.)

Satori by Flower Travellin' Band

1. Defeated The Fireman's Rushes 3-0
2. Defeated Frank Zappa's Absolutely Free 7-1
3. Defeated *shels' Plains of the Purple Buffalo 4-1

Vs

Maltid by Samla Mammas Manna

Just wait... They're all silent only because they're still in awe at the brilliance that is Maltid.

Satori is a good album, everything about it has essentially been said in this thread. Maltid is a fantastic album, though. It has absurdity about it while still retaining good proggy melodies. Maltid has great passages throughout and is one of the better rock in opposition albums that I've heard apart from Henry Cow's and later, Art Bears', output.

Overall, Satori is a 5/10 album for me while Maltid is more along the lines of an 8.5/10.

Satori - 0
Maltid - 1
