I'm voting Freebase. It's a totally out of left field take on the theme making so poppy and almost upbeat sounding a track, which I think makes it all the better. It has a terrific dynamic to it, the production is great, the vocals are great, and I loved the lyrics. Was this something you had already started on or did you actually throw it all together in just a couple days? Because, if so, my mind is officially blown.
Everyone else's was great as well. Phantom Limb and Unrelenting, I really enjoyed the dynamic of both of your tracks, in totally different ways. Rubato, I loved how jazzy yours was, that was a great melody you came up with. And Frownland, once again, I loved how unique yours was. Freebase Dali - 2 Unrelenting - 0 Rubato - 0 Frownland - 0 Janszoon - 1 PhantomLimb - 1 |

Sure, I don't think anyone would be opposed.

First of all, I was impressed by the overall quality, because usually when people I know send me their work, I feel I'm in this awkward position where I have to treat it positively, but I didn't much care for it, but in this case I was quite pleased to feel positively about all the entries. Good work everywhere.
But I have to give my vote to Dali, because not only did his piece really move me, but I felt it really stood on its own as a track, not feeling fragmented or like an introduction to something greater. Reminded me a bit of Paper Route's Absence in ways. Really enjoyed it, as a song too, and not just a clip. Freebase Dali - 3 Unrelenting - 0 Rubato - 0 Frownland - 0 Janszoon - 1 PhantomLimb - 1 |

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to cast my vote for Freebase Dali's too. The vocals are so mournful and sad that it really fits, it's offset by the poppy music, it's like you are celebrating life, while accepting the sorrow of death. Close second was Frownland's with a crossroads wandering sounding accoustic song.
Freebase Dali- 4 Unrelenting - 0 Rubato - 0 Frownland - 0 Janszoon - 1 PhantomLimb - 1

Good stuff here. I was personally most torn between Freebase Dali and Frownland, but ultimately went with Frownland's because there was an entire 35 second or so segment where my jaw was dropped.

Holy crap guys, I was not expecting this! Thanks for the feedback!! *blush*
To Jans, I actually started messing around with a little synth loop my friend made the day before the theme was announced, but it was by no means even started as a song. At that point, it was just the idea for the first two chords in the progression and some synth tweaking for a bass patch. I thought I may have had to do something else when the theme dropped, but when it did, I figured I'd just hammer out a structure and see where it went, and go onto something else if it didn't. By the time I was writing the lyrics for it, I figured I'd just stick with it and hope for the best. Again, thanks for the awesome words!

Thanks man!
Had I not been inspired, I would have either not finished it or not cared enough about it to send it in. This is good for me right now, because I've been in a dry spell since my last project. If anything good comes out of this thread for me, it's exercising my motivation muscle, which has become quite atrophied.
