Default What keeps you listening to music? (specifically new music)

This might be a pretty general question but, what keeps you listening to music and keeps you on the hunt for new music? (instead of listening to older stuff you know you like over and over)

Does it help you feel good/less stressed?

Do you enjoy the sense of discovery?

Do you feel the need to listen to more almost in a "pursuit of knowledge" type way?

Do you just find it simply enjoyable?

Probably all of that. Originally for discovery / learning, the same reason I've explored music from my teens really. It becomes a habit I think, and some probably need that feeling of excitement freshness and challenge of discovering new things in their lives. Maybe it gives us that childhood feeling of things being new and exciting which makes our lives have more interest for us. I really had this long before the internet but of course it's even easier to feed this need for discovery now.

I mainly pursue new music in the hope of finding something that will completely blow me away, it's actually bordering on an addiction for me - chasing that next 'hit'.

I'm forever trying to increase my knowledge on genres of specific interest too, and listening to the music itself is the best way to do that.

I like it better than reality.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

I'm exactly the same way. Sometimes it bums me out, though, that it seems to get harder and harder to find things that really blow me away. It really is like some kind of addiction where I need more and more to "get high".

This is why I'm so thankful I can download music to my heart's content. If I had to keep buying my albums, I'm pretty sure I would be disappointed most of the time. My downloads have gone from a 2 or 3 albums per download to 10 to 15. I need help.

Boredom, addiction, and wanting to stay connected to the modern world.
