I want to make the most of the technology that allows me to have so much right at the tips of my fingers. Never in the history of our species has it been easier to share culture via the internet and the amount that I've learned about various parts of the world through the music (be it the lyrics, background of the band, etc.) As far as new music... well partly it's be current. There always should be an appreciation of what came before, but sometimes I feel that appreciation inadvertently shifts into worshiping while everything new slips you by and suddenly you're handicapped by your particular tastes. I like to try and have my fingers in as many pop culture notions as to be able to contribute to conversations.

So I guess it's a mix of wishing to keep up to date, a desire to maximize the potential of the internet, and a seeping curiosity of how people are looking at the world we live in today and applying it to music.
