I'm with you here. "Blonde on Blonde" can creep me out at times. for “Just Like a Woman,” scares me. The chorus is “she makes love just like a woman / she aches just like a woman / but she breaks just like a little girl.” Ugh.
Anyway, to answer Urban's worthy question: I listened to "Highway 61 Revisited" about a month ago, I'm thinking of listening to it again soon. I've listened to "Blonde on Blonde" only twice, both last year. |

I started looking at these best albums of all time lists in the mid 90s, and the albums they listed then they do now as well. It's an ok list for beginners, but once you have heard them you take your own journey and make your own judgements. Consensus lists, all time, yearly etc, can get a bit boring anyway. Lists from individuals can be more individual.
The albums in the OP that I can probably listen to all through: 1 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles 2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys 3. Revolver - The Beatles 4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan 5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles 6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye 10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles 13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground 14. Abbey Road - The Beatles 20. Thriller - Michael Jackson

There'll come a time every so often that I'll stick one of these albums on but, the longer I've been familiar with them, moments like that become fewer and further between. |

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
About 2 years ago, I think Sgt. Peppers as a whole album is overrated, but there are at least four songs on it that I love 2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys Already been over this. 3. Revolver - The Beatles Around 2 months ago. Excellent 4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan Errr, 4 months ago? Enjoy this a lot. 5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles My favourite Beatles album, 1 month ago was the last listen. 6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye I'll be honest, never. 7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones About a year ago. Best thing the Stones ever did. 8. London Calling - The Clash God... 3 years ago? Does very little for me on the whole. 9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan 2 months ago, very good album 10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles 3 months ago, I'm a fan. 11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley Never have, probably never will. 12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis 2 weeks ago, a high watermark in Jazz. 13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground This afternoon, one of my favourite albums of all time. 14. Abbey Road - The Beatles 3 weeks ago, one of The Beatles' best. 15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience Oosh, about a year ago. No excuse really, I love this album. 16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan About 6 months ago, always a good listen. 17. Nevermind - Nirvana A month ago, gets an unfair bashing from some. 18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Never have. 19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison 2 years ago, I used to listen to it a lot. Very good. 20. Thriller - Michael Jackson Never. 21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry Never. 22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon A year ago, great album. 23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder 3 years ago. Doesn't grab me. 24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown Never. 25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac 4 years ago. Ugh is all I have to say. 26. The Joshua Tree - U2 About 6 years ago. I just can't stand U2 27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson 2 months, it's the shit. 28. Who's Next - The Who 4 years ago? Never been big on The Who. 29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin A year ago, still enjoy it, I used to be obsessed with Led Zep when I was 15. 30. Blue - Joni Mitchell 3 weeks ago. I love Joni Mitchell. |
