Default The 2011 Music Banter Compilation and Ratings Thread

It's that time of year again. For contemplation. For reflection. For all of your focus to shift to what the coming year has to offer. For lists, for criticisms, and for ranking all the things. Welcome to the 2011 Music Banter Compilation (And Ratings Thread)!(!) Here we shall come together and praise or slag the year's output, to be preserved for all eternity (or until the thread gets lost).

Here we shall preserve 2011 as we musically heard it, to be posted for download sometime in the new year! Here's something to look back on as a whole, or just a place to find out what you missed out on!
  • Submitters have until January 31 to decide upon their top three favourite tracks released in 2011!
  • A zip/rar of your three selections is to be uploaded and provided to me via PM on a host such as mediafire or sendspace.
  • Everyone will have at least one track make the compilation, possibly more depending on the number of contributors!
  • In the new year, the compilation will be uploaded and posted for download with a tracklist that we can discuss and review.

And in keeping with the theme of reflection, this thread will also serve as the year-in rankings discussion, with a fun lil' somethin' somethin' on the side!
  • Members have until December 31 to post a finalized list of their top releases of 2011!
  • There is a minimum of 5 list items, and a maximum of 25.
  • Please only post your list once. Feel free to edit this list right to the last minute, as they won't be calculated until after the deadline.
  • After everyone's lists have been decided, the rankings will be tallied into a cumulative (minimum) top 10 of Music Banter's 2011 releases.
  • This will be accomplished by assigning the rankings a value, and hashing out the total number of points generated for each album at the end of the year.
  • Hopefully I don't bugger it all up.

Everything to be conveniently posted in the first posts for ease of reference upon completion!

Excellent to see Absence on the list man. Feel free to edit your list if anything else makes the cut before the year's up.

I think I jumped the gun putting this thread out so early for two reasons:
  1. The year's not quite out yet, and people aren't thinking about their year end lists this early in the month.
  2. There are already two more events running at the same time as this one, and it's a lot to keep up with.
So I'd like everyone to take their time with this thread, and I'll extend all the deadlines to make this January's event instead of dumping it on the December pile, but I did think it important to get the event thread out before others started creating their year-end-summaries.

I'll start pushing this again closer to the end of the month.

I just want to remind everyone who seems to have missed this that this event is about to start running. I see a lot of people posting year end lists, but very little knowledge of this particular event!

@Charlemagne, some great choices there... I see you kept up with punk a lot this year. I still need to hear that Title Fight album.
