I might get some crap for this, but ever since I was little this has always felt like the quintessential "night" album for me....

I think the reason is because when I was about 8 I was taking a road trip with my family and my dad put this on. It was a late drive and I was half asleep while listening to it, so it got burnt into my mind in that context.

So, yeah, I guess this also counts as a guilty pleasure. So I like some Harry Connick Jr. Whatever. These days, though, I usually tend to listen to some chill electronic like Air or Boards of Canada...maybe some Sigur Ros.

No shame to be had. I personally have an entire sub-genre of music that is comprised of music that I remember from late night road trips with my dad from the ages of 8-10 (true story). I'll see your Harry Connick Jr. and raise you Little River Band and Ronnie Milsap.

I find that whenever I listen to CocoRosie, it tends to be late at night. It just feels fitting somehow. Their most recent album, Grey Oceans, works at night in particular, I think.

Also, Radiohead's Amnesiac is definitely one of my late night albums:

Then of course there's the artists from Anticon Records. The Music for the Advancement of Hip Hop compilation from the label is probably the one that seriously gets the most playing time from me at night.

And, last but not least, Regina Spektor's "Songs":

I'm currently listening to the CocoRosie Lemonade you posted, lovely relaxing tune. I personally thank you for sharing.

Whether you're due to go out and hit some bars or not, you can simply never go wrong with Everything But the Girl's Temperamental...

For chilling out and staying in, there's always Sonny Rollins' Saxophone Colossus...

Sonny Rollins - Strode Rode - from Saxophone Colossus - YouTube

Ambient music's great as well. Any Biosphere, Popol Vuh, Global Communication, Bohren and der Club Of Gore or whatever always goes down well mit me.

Fleetwood Mac's soft-ish pop-rock has always been an attraction when late at night.

Of course this tends to work for me as well...
