Since my debut on this forum, I have picked up a ****load of recommendations here, and discovered a lot of artists whom I hadn't the faintest clue of.
The average knowledge of users on this site is overwhelming, and that is beneficial for somebody like me, who wants to listen to as much good music as I can. However, I notice that many of you guys have prejudices towards popular music and mainstream artists, which is understandable. But, I want to know, how do you interact with this type of music when faced with it. Say you're at a club, and you're a massive Jay Reatard fan, so you've been listening to him all day and crowing about him to anybody that would listen. How do you react when you're in a club, and the new joint from Katy Perry comes on. Do you dance and have a ****ing quality time, regardless of the music, or do you take the sulk and go sit in a corner mumbling under your breath because you disagree with the music choice. Or your mate starts bumping the new Backstreet Boys album in the car, subconsciously, you want to fist pump, but instead you give him a lecture about Elvis Costello's Armed Forces album, and how it is superior in every way. How do you guys treat and react to popular music, when confronted with it. Thanks for reading, much love. MC |
