And you don't like Clapton!

Yes, although it annoys me how much Beebs has become an artificial figure, I don't think there's any point in slating him. Hey, he looks more attractive than me and he sings better than me. And he's a year older than me!

solo, not much, besides "Wonderful Tonight" and "Tears in Heaven" (sue me, i'm at dad's age, so i should enjoy dad-style ballads)

Those were his best times!

"Wonderful Tonight" is the kind of song I imagine beebs singing when he's older.

It doesn't bother me at all.
I don't have any problem with popular music, other than that most of it is just ****ty. I don't know why ****ty music becomes popular, but it's not like I find it's ****ty because it's popular.
I mean, I've always had a soft spot for Robbie Williams' The Road to Mandalay.

Hmmm..... I know a lot of it is pretty much pure shit but I suppose one man's garbage is another's treasure.

Mind you, I used to love Olly Murs. "Please Don't Let Me Go" is a really amazing song.

I haven't got a clue who or what Olly Murs is. So no popular music where I live, I reckon.

I think the point with popular music is that it's made for the occasional music listener who just uses music as a wallpaper, a background thing. Muzak, if you will. It has to be catchy and easy to the ear. The actual music lover wants some ingenuinity in his music.
That's why, for someone who's really into music, popular music sounds like crap. It's just too simple, often.

Depends on what you call serious.
I want music to be musically interesting.

i like to listen to bland three-chord drivel with repetitive rhythms and crap raps when I'm driving

stuff like Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" or Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA"
