You have to understand. I've know so many people that have died of drug overdoses and suicide. It's only natural for me to hate drugs. The depression of those losses still stings. My own brother was killed by the mafia (or whatever you call them) because of drug related problems. It's hard to see all this **** going on.

I can't say I've lost any loved ones to substance abuse, but I can definitely say I've seen a lot of them become people I don't understand or relate to anymore, which is difficult in its own right.

If I'm being honest, I don't think your concerns and distastes are valid in a thread about simple dope, if indeed those painful experiences and fears are where your attitude is stemming from.

That's why I see a therapist. :o:

That's probably for the best, because your own biases are hurting you more than they are "fighting the good fight" or what have you.

Going back to the original question....

If I spend money on an album the last thing I want to do is to have to spend even more money getting high just to make the damn thing sound any better.

You're the musician YOU make it sound better before you release the fucking thing.

Ok now I understand where you're coming from and sorry you've had to deal with all of that. That's the ugly side of drugs and that's certainly the part I hate about them. I've never lost friends or family to drugs although one of my close friends did go off the rails for a while. But it was personal problems and depression that caused him to turn to drugs not the other way around.

No one has ever overdosed on weed though, it's impossible and you'll fall asleep before you've smoked too much. But as regards more serious drugs I can certainly understand your hate for them.

I phrased the question wrong. Of course weed doesn't cause an actual change in the music. But I think it does make it more enjoyable.

I don't do anytihing beyond weed, but I can honestly tell you that, if anything, I just find the experience all the more pointless.

Much rather get drunk and jump around a bit.

We all posses bodily senses don't we? Smell, Taste, Touch, Hearing and Sight. Drugs of many different sorts enhance these senses while intoxicated by them.

I do believe that certain things can be used in moderation with possible benefit.

But so many let the drug lead them instead.

It can become a lethal combination, if history tells us anything.

I think you are contradicting yourself. If you want us to believe that you are helpful and sympathetic, it doesn't help if you say in the same post that you do whatever you want and you won't listen to anyone who tries to stop you.
