Dream Theater studied in Berkeley, Dream Theater are highly esteemed musicians, therefore they must be taken seriously

bollocks! where's the humour? i would like them more if they wore long flowing capes and sang about Middle Earth

i would like them more if their music were like Jap RPG combat music

but no, they're po-faces serious musicians for the "serious" listener

their only extent of self-deprecation was when they covered the Super Mario theme (that's only one instance)

The point is that some of your opinions are not in the majority but you're not going to change those opinions because you value them.

In the same way I have my own opinions. Calling my opinions absurd while at the same time expecting others to respect your is irrational.

Btw there's not such thing as "objectively crap" when it comes to music. It's all subjective.
