You're right. Have you ever seen the g3 DVD? It's malmsteen, vai and satriani. They do a cover of "keep on rockin in the free world", it's some of the most emotionally void guitar playing I've ever heard. And one of the worst butcherings of a song I've ever seen.

If I looked at every post and every word you posted it wouldn't be hard to accuse you of looking for attention or being troll but frankly I couldn't care less if you were.

This is a music forum and if you noticed not everybody here has the same opinion.
I'm so freaking tired of the 'It's my opinion, everyone thinks differently, so **** off' attitude I'm seeing out of nearly everybody.

Firstly,

A) you started the thread.

B) You made the argument.

C) Defend it, or shut up.

If you have different opinions, fine. If you aren't up for argument, don't share them.

I don't think you understand the post. Unknown Soldier follows every thread I go on and everytime he sees posts he disagrees with instead of starting a conversation he only says "you're a troll etc".

I think you should pay more attention to who I replying to and why I was replying to them. I don't care that others disagree with me. That's the whole point.

Did you even read my post that you replied to? Because frankly it doesn't sound like you did.

I think he came to this thread trying to make peace with you initially(as did Ill Duce in a way).

Yngwie Malmsteen, Buckethead, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour and a couple others show more emotion and passion than Jimi. They just show it in a manner less accessible.
Fanboy/girl or not, let's be realistic here. Yngwie Malmsteen is only competing with sinusoids for respect at this point.

Whether or not he has emotions, I can't deduce. But he sure has difficulty letting others know about them.

I'm not angry at anyone on this forum. It does get annoying though when a user follows every post I make and calls me a troll when he could have just started a conversation to show his disagreement. Despite this I've answered most of his posts just explaining whatever needed to be explained.

It's not hard to see his emotion and passion for music. Just watch one of his old live shows.

Here's a video demonstrating his passion. He might not make sex faces but nevertheless you can see the passion he has dripping from his guitar.

Either way Malmsteen does show emotion. Even if it is in his own way.
have you actually seen any Malmsteen live performances? he plays in front of an orchestra, after pulling one of his trademark piddly-piddly solos, he swings the entire guitar round his body then looks like he's the conductor of the orchestra

it's not the "antics" i'm worried about, it's his trademark copying of well-known classical motifs and his pretensions that he is a "guitar God"

i do admit i am still fond of "Rising Force" - neo-classical was interesting back in the day, it takes a lot of skill and dexterity to play (i have learnt neo-classical)

but saying he has a microscopic percentage of the emotions evoked by the original classical works, is like saying "Beavis and Butthead" has an ounce of the artistry of Citizen Kane

it's just classical copycatting for the metalheads

Stop chucking your dummy about!

Lets look at some of the facts of why I think you`re looking to be controversial.

1) You hijack "The British Invasion Thread" by stating the ridiculous notion, that bands like the Beatles are to blame for the current ills of American society, through their garbage lyrics and that McCartney and Lennon can`t write to save their lives. Yet you still think they are one of the greatest bands ever!

2) You start the "Dream Theater Thread" with oh I really like this band BUT they`re lifeless machines with no real feeling and they sound like a computer without its software. BUT of course you still state that you really like this band (sometimes)

3) You then start the Hendrix v Buckethead thread, admittedly you haven`t contradicted yourself so much here, but you`ve played the controversial card of Jimi played with no emotion! You stated that he was sensual but not in a sexual way, then expressed the fact that you don`t really know how to express yourself and have probably got this wrong, but still go on defending the Jimi has no emotion angle.

You`ve basically in the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix picked out two of rock`s most revered artists and know that a lot of people on the forum have a very high opinion of these artists, then come out with some controversial opinions about them and when challenged, you then play "I`m entitled to my own opinion" card. You`ve contradicted yourself more times than any politician, got your adjectives and nouns hopelessly wrong and shown just how stubborn you really are.

You`ve also used the angle, that WE are all overawed with artists like the Beatles and Hendrix and for this reason we can`t see past the hype. I mean that is just so arrogant on your part!!!! Most people on this forum have a very diverse knowledge of music and its history and can therefore reach their own conclusions on artists without you saying we`ve been conned.

The Beatles and Hendrix are rock legends, accept that, if you don`t like them then fine, but don`t go around spouting out nonsense about them.

I don`t like the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys or Eric Clapton, I may make some passing negative comments about them BUT I don`t spend a whole thread or chasing some pointless argument against them, these guys are legends, I don`t like them, but they`re still legends and I accept that, when an artist is revered, its normally for a reason.

Sure I came into this thread thinking eraser was going to be more constructive and sensible than normal.........but more fool me.

IMO, Rising Force's only good song was it's least technical. Strangely it's a phenomenal song as well:

The rest of the songs are hindered massively by an extremely dull rhythm section. I know that's not the point of the album, but Malmsteen might as well have been soloing alone in a dark room.

Honestly, also, I think he may be technically better but paled in comparison to the more popular Randy Rhoads doing the same thing at the same time:

Maybe not as technical but Rhoads was far more interesting.
