Arcade Fire - No Cars Go
Radiohead - Karma Police

Those are the two tracks I think of first when I think of tracks that I experienced profoundly upon the first ever listen.

Yeah, agree with those mentioned. Certain songs do grow on me, and become more enjoyable, but some just fade away the more I listen to them (in a short time frame).

"I Could Be Dreaming" by Belle and Sebastian is a song I enjoyed muchly on the first listen.

I thought about it, and just any old favourite song won't do. I liked a lot of songs at first listen, but came to love them with repeated runs. The number of songs that have amazed me the first time I heard them is limited.

Add the Decemberists' Sons & Daughters to the list.

Another one. It was late at night and a friend of mine sent me Tool's "Pu****".
I almost cried, really. It's so brilliant.

Neu! - Negativeland
My Bloody Valentine - Soon
The Gun Club - Sex Beat
Afghan Whigs - My Curse
Gospel - Paper Tigon
Amon Duul II - Kanaan
Velvet Underground - Venus in Furs
Boards of Canada - An Eagle in your Mind

I can remember all of these songs hitting me for six when I first head them, I'd like to experience that feeling again. There are a few more that I can't quite recall at this particular point.
