Saw The English Beat and B-52's last week at the OC FAIR. Really good show. The Beat only played seven songs which was disappointing. Apparently they have a new album on the way. b52's did not disappoint either. awesome hit filled show.

B-52's are pretty fun live, saw them once at a fair or something a few years back.

The vocals of everyone in the band have not diminished in any sense. They put the crowd into a frenzy for sure. I was about 8 Goose Island IPA'S in but they clearly outshined the Beat because of their small set list.

The Beat were in Philly a few months ago but I unfortunately couldn't go. I had no idea they had a new album coming out. I'm curious to hear what that will be like.

They were really good Jansz. Their new album is gonna be crowd funded. Think they have a song on their facebook which is gonna be on the album. I'm a huge two-tone ska fan so it was a real trip down nostalgia lane for me. I would put them alongside The Specials as my favorites of the era.

Check out their facebook Lee.

I didn't see a new song on there, but that's really exciting. They're easily my favorite of any of those bands. Each one of their albums is nearly flawless.

I've been going to as many shows as time & money will allow over the past few months. I haven't got around to organizing all the photos I've taken, so I'll be lazy and just post a few comments with some of my videos from some of the shows...

Great show from The Blues Magoos at one of my favorite small venues. The band played a great selection from their 60's albums and a couple of songs from their latest effort. Three of the original 5 members (Ralph Scala - keyboards & vocals, Peppy Castro - guitar & vocals, Geoff Daking - Drums) with 2 new members (Mike Ciliberto - guitar & vocals, and Peter Stuart Kohlman - bass & vocals), they really tore it up from start to finish and I would definitely see them again if I get the chance. They put this video up on their Facebook page so I guess I've been "Magoo approved"

Tinsley Ellis at another favorite small venue. Another smokin' hot show all the way through from this veteran of the blues scene.

Roberto Morbioli at the same venue. My first time seeing him and I was impressed enough to go out and see him again a couple of months later.

Selwyn Birchwood playing some lap steel guitar, also at the same venue. Newer to the scene with only one album out so far. Great stuff!

Roberto Morbioli (again) at an intimate show at a private residence. $20 donation to the band with dinner, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages included (I brought my own adult beverages to consume instead)

Doyle Bramhall ll finishing his show covering "Going Down" by Don Nix. Similar to Dick Dale in that he plays left handed with the guitar strung upside down. And like Dick Dale, he likes to play LOUD! This was by far the loudest show I've ever heard at this particular venue.

Walter Trout also finishing his show with a cover of the same song. Walter was on death's door a little over a year ago after suffering liver failure and slipping into a coma while waiting for a possible liver transplant. He received a transplant at the last minute and has made remarkable progress since then. The fact that he was so energetic and spot-on in his playing was truly amazing to me. Red hot show from beginning to end! Great to see him back on the stage and ripping it up!
