I am intrigued. How can all the Beatle's albums be classed as top 5/10 albums/ best of albums in these lists. Do you not find that they have become completely over played and that so many other bands would at least deserve one of those slots.People always seem to go for the obvious Smiths, Pixies, Beatles ensemble but I a sure if you even looked at the past few year you would find a multitude of amazing albums;

The National – High Violet
Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
Foals – Total Life Forever
Elbow – Build A Rocket Boys
Mumford and Sons- Sign no More

Or prior to this
LCD Soundsystem – Sound Of Silver
Florence & The Machine – Lungs
Damien Rice – O
Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago
Amy Winehouse – Back To Black
Arctic Monkeys – Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not
Queens of the Stone Age- songs for the Deaf
Foo Fighters- In your Honor
Nirvana-Nevermind
The Smiths- The Queen is Dead
The Strokes- Is this it
kings of Leon

Thanks for mentioning Arcade Fire, who really deserve a lot more recognition. I'd agree with most of the stuff on your list exept "Nevermind", but I've moaned enough about that on the album review thread.
And yes, I think Rolling Stone's criteria for great albums are how grossly overplayed they are, how ugly / dead the lead singer is, how much the lead guiterist now sucks, etc, etc ad nausiam.

A grammy isn't enough?

Rush- Moving Pictures
Jethro Tull- Thick as a Brick
Yes- Close to the Edge
Pink Floyd- Animals
Bad Religion- Against The Grain

Your selection of albums intrigues me, as I would say that none of these albums are actually the best by the artists you mentioned.

And a Juno, and the 2011 Polaris Prize.

I think Arcade Fire has received more recognition than any other alternative rock band ever

It makes absolutely no sense to namedrop Arcade Fire as a band who deserves more recognition on this forum.

Lady Gaga does suck, but one could argue that she's very very recognized. As the grammy's are recognized. As Arcade Fire is recognized after winning a grammy.

I feel like there must be at least ten other versions of this thread on this site, but I haven't done this in a while so here it is:

Share What Ya Got - Defiance, Ohio
Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Body, The Blood, The Machine - The Thermals
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys
Bug - Dinosaur Jr.
