I do recommend, if you care to, to go through the thread and see if anybody elses' list has artists you know about that had albums out last year you may have missed. I noticed you didn't think there was a 25th album to add. I felt there was an amazing amount of great albums last year. So much so that I had a top100. Now surely I could have made it a top 80 but that didn't sound great, so I included some albums that I thought were honorable mentions (mind you, I didn't put them up there at all if I didn't enjoy them thoroughly but some aren't mind-blowing, sure). Food for thought. Thanks for sharing. Better late than never. I wrote my 2010 list in May 2011 for example |

Although Fear and the Nervous System didn't break my top 50, it was good. |

I thought it was obvious we were going to have to agree to disagree about our choices in music. I was commenting that there is some overlap in our tastes, no need to be snarky about its position on my list. Its more for me than anyone else.
As a band I'd never heard before, it was a great album. It wasn't mind-blasting enough for me to score it higher than a whole slew of established artists I follow that released fantastic work last year. The reason I had a top 100 albums was because I follow a lot of genres of music like jazz, hip-hop, rock, metal, instrumental guitar, funk, and weird hybrids therein. If I broke down and made top lists by genres, it might have broken the top 10 easily in its category. Now that I know you dig Fear and the Nervous System, I should be able to recommend some similar bands to you. Gotta find the positive here. Negativity helps no one. This isn't an e-peen contest. We're all here, hopefully, to hear about new artists we may enjoy. |
