At least this looks "latin"

(But is actually a "cumbia" version of a rock song)

There is a new song from Octafonic (two actually, but the last one, days ago, was universally despised :( )

And 42 Decibel uploaded an entire concert

This emotional roller coaster is a concert of Indio Solari

Here's a nice, relaxed song: an unadorned delivery and a voice which works as a foil to lyrics that are on the point of getting too saccharin:-

Like Zarbaqal, who has sadly left us it seems, I'm putting up the Spanish and English lyrics:

Me gusta el Sol, Alicia y las palomas /I like the sun, Alicia, and the doves,
El buen cigarro y las malas señoras / A good cigar and bad ladies,
Saltar paredes y abrir las ventanas / Jumping walls, and opening windows,
Y cuando lloro, una mujer / And a woman when I cry

Me gusta el vino tanto como las flores / I like wine as much as flowers,
Y los conejos pero no los tractores / And rabbits, but not tractors,
Y el pan casero y la voz de Dolores / Homemade bread and the voice of D
Y el mar mojandome los pies / And the sea wetting my feet.

No soy de aquí ni soy de allá / I'm not from here nor am I from there,
No tengo edad ni porvenir / I don’t have an age or a future,
Y ser feliz es mi color de identidad / And being happy is my color of identity.

Me gusta estar tirado siempre en la arena / I like lying forever on the sand,
En mi matungo perseguir a Manuela / On my horse following Manuela,
Por todo el tiempo para ver las estrellas / Or all the time to watch the stars,
Con la María en el trigal / With Maria in the wheat field.

Jorge Cafrune has turned up a couple of times in a comment or list here, but I think this is the first time anyone has posted a song of his. To find out more, you can do what I'm doing, checking wikipedia:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Cafrune

Thanks for that. I can't believe this guy was only 40 when he died, looks about 60 in all the photos.

Speaking of Argentinian musicians, may I interest you in some Mercedes Sosa?

Lisnaholic 12-29-2020 05:41 AM

Yes, he looks and sounds much older doesn't he? And not your typical rock-n-roll death: "run over while riding a horse" is a sudden and tragic way to die at just forty.

And thanks for the reminder about your neglected Mercedes Sosa thread. :thumb:

yes, there's huge bunch of music in that thread, and of the ones you selected here, I'm particularly enjoying this one, with its retro guitar and organ sound:-

... looking for Hank Marvin in the line up, but perhaps he wasn't there that day.

Maca Mona Mu is not a mega-star, perhaps that's why she hasn't been mentioned here yet. Here are the best tracks from her third "album", Kalanchoe. Album in quotation marks because it only has 7 tracks and may not have like an official physical edition for all I know:

To me, her earlier albums, Semillas and Bambu don't seem to have the same power as the songs I've put here. Their arrangements are simpler and the songwriting more subtle - well, who on earth wants sublety in music ?! Not me.
