I listen to a bit of Pink but thats off her Funhouse album with songs including the elements of rock.

I dislike most rap because they talk too fast for me to understand what they are saying and what they are saying is usually not something that I want to know lol.

You just need to listen to some more artists. Not all of them speak too fast and talk about the same things.

That's what converted me. Highly suggest it.

And if they happen to love jazz, Guru is another good way to start. Super jazzy, with really smooth vocals and an easy-going style, very easy to understand for a newcomer.
