You may see it as that but the point still stands there is no need to comment on another's opinion is just asking for attention.

I think the issue is that, while knowing that his target audience is a number of musically oblivious students, his writing even managed to make us here at Music Banter feel condescended. Some people have been so offended by the overall tone of the piece that they've taken it personally and been very critical of it, but the points made about improving his attitude towards his reader-base have been valid, and ultimately intended to make him a better writer.
