Default R.E.M. have split up

Pisser.

Even if post-New Adventures In Hi-Fi their quality control dipped a bit and Accelerate felt a bit like the old boys getting back together for one last job, we've lost one of the greatest and most influential bands the world has seen.

Yeah it came as a bit of a surprise. Then again they've gone on long enough and I've never been too keen on everything they've released after Automatic For The People. But everything they've released up to and including that is a remarkable achievement for a band.

I was lucky to have seen them at a festival 3 years ago and they put on a great live show.

I was there It's a shame we'll probably never get to see them again but maybe they'll reform for a few shows someday.

Yeah , I heard about this today also. I was going to make a thread about it but you beat me to the punch.

Hopefully in a few years they will get together again to do a reunion tour and do a few more shows.

Or they could do a farewell tour. I wonder if they have one planned.

What the ****. My world just did a 180. I was hoping that I could see them in concert again soon because they hadn't toured since 2008! ARGHHHHH!!!!!

Great news! They should have done this right after Automatic for the People. That album would have been the perfect swan song.

it's the end of R.E.M. as we know it, and I feel fine.
