Prince's black album is another one, shelved in 1987 for ambiguous reasons and not released until 1994.

Prince actually has a LOT of unreleased material. The list is ridiculous.

I just picked up Get Smile, a previously unreleased recording by a band named Smile, which featured Brian May along with a few other members of Queen before Freddie Mercury joined them. Pretty decent stuff. It was cool for me to get to hear "Doin' Alright" before Freddie, and to hear the similarities and differences betwen it and the song that appeared on their first album.

I also have 2 pretty neat unreleased Black Crowes. One with the Allman Brothers in Pensacola circa 1993, and the other is called "Lost Crowes", but I don't know much else about it.

And probably my favorite is the two Jimi Hendrix "basement tapes" One from Stephen Stills basement 1968 of just Jimi and Stephen jamming for about an hour. No real "songs" on it, but a lot of cool riffs. The other is Jack Bruce and Jimi. Not as cool as the Stills tape, but pretty cool none-the-less...

Prince is a genius :) the black album on the other hand was experimental garbage..the only songs from that album that are decent are "Le Grind"& "Cindy C".

Drop Nineteens shelved an album before they released their debut Delaware. It's not exactly clear why but some sources say it was due to the master tapes degrading. It found it's way out somehow as the Mayfield bootleg. Their sound on it was a lot closer to the British shoegaze at the time but there's some very good stuff on it.

Always wondered what BREAD's 1974 follow up to "Guitar Man' would have sounded like if completed. Instead, the band split up and Gates took his 3 or 4 songs over onto his first solo album, whilst Griffin did likewise.

From what I remember (Reading You Never Give Me Your Money p 298-9), there was supposed to be an album recorded by Ringo Starr with Chips Moman before the Drummers reformed life that led to the All Starr Band, but will never be released. The tapes are not to be played to anyone. This was around 1989. Ringo messing around with Disco (Ringo the 4'th) was not good, but this would have been interesting.

Duran Duran recorded an album called Reportage as a follow-up to their reunion album Astronaut, but the label wanted them to go into the studio with Timbaland to tack on a pop track. When they got to the US to record, Andy Taylor didn't show (claiming Sony didn't secure his Visa) and officially quit the band. Again. They then scrapped Reportage and recorded Red Carpet Massacre. Nothing from Reportage has leaked.

The under-rated Dennis Wilson was working on "Bamboo" before he died. He had completed the demo, which is included the re release of "Pacific Ocean Blue". It's no "Smile", but it's good.

Judging from Nick Rhodes' words quoted in the final part of the Wikipedia article, I have hope that it will be released. It sounds like a good one.
