I have another partial explanation: the perceived low physicality of playing keyboards. Nerds stereotypically hate sports. Run around on stage singing and/or playing a small instrument, bang the drums, or stand there and just move the fingers? I think that would push some musically-inclined people toward keyboards. It also would result in keyboard players generally looking less athletic than other band members, since they're getting less exercise. (Ironic nerdy analysis of nerds.)

I don't know. Think of it this way:
If you have an acoustic guitar and know how to alternate between two cords and sequel 'I'm a sensitive bad boy who loves you!' you'll automatically get a blowjob. If you sit an play through a Scarlatti work on a piano, you are seen as an 85 year old band teacher, and sit home with a sock, and your hand to keep company. Think it's the nerd philosophy of valuing intellectual pursuit over getting laid, probably. |

Keyboard players are definitely nerds.
Janszoon is an idiot. If you didn't get the context of the OP then you clearly have some level of retardation. Also... most musicians are nerds. Its only the ones that made it big are cool but so is anyone that's famous. Sitting in your room practicing an instrument 8 hours a day leaves little room for doing things that would make you cool. And knowing how to play others music doesn't make you an artist so don't think cause you can play covers it makes you interesting. Don't bother replying, delete my post and account. Just wanted to tell that keyboard ***ot how much of a piece of **** he is. |

A lot of the time keyboard players start out as being made to by their booky parents at a young age then come back to it. The type of kids who end up in that situation aren't usually the cooler ones. And because it's generally seen as the least cool instrument out of the guitar/bass/drum combo.
In your average group of jammers, the keyboarder will be the most "nerdy" most of the time. Peace out. |
