Uh.... I know i am new and all, but are coldplay really alternative and indie? In my opinion they would be closer to pop.
But back on topic.... I dont really like hteir new single... I have heard snippets of their album here and there, and to be honest, it doesnt sound too promising! Can anyone here that has it recommend me if its worth it or not? |

@Sweet nothing: Um, not for me. But I was wrong, here are some pretty good Coldplay videos:
Don't panic The scientist Trouble Parachutes is one fantastic album innit? @insikeraotr: I don't think they're indie or alternative but their sound seems to fit into this category more than in any other (including pop).

Agreed on Don't Panic and The Scientist the latter probably being their best ever. Also I thought Violet Hill was pretty good.

I am pretty apathetic about Coldplay, and it beats me how they became this incredibly popular act.
Their sound is just so bland, I mean I have X&Y and A rush of blood to the head on itunes and have listened to each a few times through over the years but I couldn't name one song from either and I can't really differentiate between them - all maudlin and completely lacking energy, with some pretty average singing. Their newest album is an improvement on this, but they still stick pretty firmly within their mould. They aren't bad music to have on in the background though. |

Most pop/rock artists have made a career being mediocre. Coldplay are no exception to this, making a career out of the same crap people have had to endure since the early days of U2. It's nothing more than I expected, but it doesn't make Chris Martin any better of a musician.
