MB GENERAL ALBUM CLUB: Pg.Lost - Key

Welcome to the Music Banter General Album Club! The premise is not unlike any other music or book club you've participated in before, but nevertheless, I'll break it down.

  • The club will commence on a monthly basis. The frequency of the club may increase if demand calls for it.
  • In week 1 we will nominate a list of potential club themes. These themes can be of genres, related artists, titles, years, or concepts. These themes will be voted on by participants during the following week.
  • In week 3, once the theme is chosen, nominations of albums fitting within its frame will be taken. There will be a voting period of one week.
  • The album with the most votes at the end of this time frame will be discussed here, in the General Album Club thread, until the cycle begins again.
  • A link for each album will be made available upon request in the event that you are unable to find it through your own means. (Thank you to Eric Generic for volunteering to make albums available!)
  • Unused themes will be recycled into future polls. If a theme fails to receive more than one vote after three rounds, it will be eliminated from the list.

To keep things fair and moving along smoothly, we're introducing a couple of rules to the Album Club format.

  1. All nominations for albums and themes are to be PM'd to me with (Album/Theme) Nomination in the subject line. This will keep the thread tidy for the album discussion. One nomination is permitted per person per round. If multiple nominations are submitted, the first listed will be taken.
  2. Discussion will take place here in the General Music Club Thread. Anyone is welcome to pick up the album and join in on the discussion, or if you're already familiar with it, feel free to pipe up!
  3. If you nominate an album for the discussion, you are required to listen to whichever album is chosen for that round. This is to ensure that we have a pool of committed listeners each month. If you fail to partake in discussion after submitting an album, further submissions may be rendered ineligible.
  4. Please do not vote for your own nomination; this is to prevent multiple-album ties in the results.
  5. You may nominate the same album more than once if it A) Fits the monthly theme and B) Has not previously been selected for discussion.
  6. Please don't nominate an album you haven't heard. This is for quality control purposes; we don't want another Dark Saga incident!

Welcome to the club! Comments and suggestions on the structure of the club are always welcome, and nominations are now underway!

I don't think it'd be much of an issue. I doubt every voter would also submit a nomination.

Hopefully the club becomes big enough that this is not an issue. I do know that with the smaller clubs however, typically few outside the thread join in. I would like this to be more encompassing of the community.

That'd be nice, especially since you provided such a pretty banner for the thread. :p:

I was going to go all out and have it randomized among a bunch of banners, but I think I'll wait until I am particularly bored/this thread is particularly successful.

Yay. I can submit and review in July, right?

This should be good! Thanks for the effort you're putting into it. :)

Absolutely. It'll be about two weeks before we've selected an album, so there's lots of advance.

I take it it's normal procedure of pm'ing you or other hosts albums?

Or post them in here?
