You could say that of thousands of albums. But I think there are enough consistently good albums out there too, maybe more than you think.

Maybe I'm just picky, but I probably couldn't name five albums I like entirely.

Five albums I like I could name, yes. One album where every track is perfect? No. There is always some filler.

BY THE WAY: Poll closes tomorrow, today's the last day to get your theme votes in before we start nominating albums!

Well I'd look for a certain level of consistency in an album. No absolute stinker on it of course, but even if some tracks are lesser they can be listened to in the context of the other tracks with enough enjoyment to make it worthwhile in better albums

WE'VE GOT A THREE WAY TIE, so please cast to break it between:

  • Concept Albums
  • Albums from 1971
  • Albums that make you feel badass when you listen to them

I nominate Cunning Stunts by Cows. I'm on my phone and I'll be limited to that for a while so I'm afraid I can't send you a link but this album has always made me feel sane, full of inspiration, appreciative of life, and badass.
Listening to this album makes me feel a bit like a crackheaded homeless guy, wandering the streets chugging from a half empty vodka bottle and smiling and laughing at the delusions that only exist in my head. At the risk of sounding like a hipster, this album feels authentic. It feels like the band had no money while recording this so they made up for it with sweat, blood, tears, come, and good humor.
