A: You Give Love a Bad Name- Bon Jovi

Q: When you set up your Pandora account, who was the first artist you made a radio station for?

A (from a complete unknown, yey!): It's been years since I started my first Pandora station, and it's long gone by now. I did an overhaul at some point that involved a lot of deleting and merging of stations that were probably superfluous. The oldest existing ones that I have were originally for Animal Collective, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Boards of Canada. The Animal Collective station got a later addition of Grizzly Bear.

Q: What's the first song you can think of to play in a room crowded with people that would make everyone go silent?

I assume you mean startle the **** out of everyone, right?

Crank it up and let terror reign. I have a feeling it might not shut everyone up though. They might howl in pain and disgust, anguish.

What artist do you play if you have to drive your fairly young nephew or relative around the age of 8 or 9 for an hour?

i am "the" favourite uncle of my nieces and my nephew. upon the request of the parents, i refrain from playing anything that involves cursing, "screaming" in the lyrics. I settle for acoustic performers - Amos Lee, Bret Dennen, Ray LaMontagne, Xavier Rudd, Joseph Arthur, Ben Harper, Iron and Wine, William Fitzsimmons, Nick Drake, etc.

favourite TV show themesong?

A: My hometown has spawned absolutely nothing of notability. It's sort of the satellite of a larger town which is basically in the early stages of becoming Midgar, being the world HQ of the chemical corporation that invented napalm. I was gonna use Sufjan Stevens as my musician of notability from the general "area" (even though neither Petoskey nor Detroit are close to where I live), but then I remembered Madonna. She was born roughly half an hour from my hometown.

Q: What's the funniest reaction anyone's ever given to a song you were listening to, and what was the song in question?
