Q. Which music era do you hate the most?

Mondo Bungle 07-29-2011 08:26 PM

Now, for all this crappy mainstream...crap.

What music movement do you like the most?

TockTockTock 07-29-2011 08:33 PM

A: No Wave? Maybe Krautrock... if it's even considered a movement.

Q: What album that you know of is well ahead of its time?

Insane Guest 07-29-2011 08:33 PM

British Invasion

I would go back in time to stop [x] from ever existing and making music. [Fill in 'x' with band or artist of your choosing]

[edit] too late, Brian Eno's Ambient 1: Music For Airports

Howard the Duck 07-29-2011 08:40 PM

Sorry to interupt this thread's process, but which phase would you rather have an album from? Their experimental phase (i.e. The Velvet Underground & Nico and White Light/White Heat) or their more conventional phase (i.e. The Velvet Underground and Loaded)?

Howard the Duck 07-29-2011 09:02 PM

^^I wish every one of their releases was like Nico

^ Picking up from the last question, I`d say The Grateful Dead - so many of their albums are almost great, but somehow not quite.

Q : Which artist do you most admire for the musical risks that they took ?

Electrophonic Tonic 07-30-2011 09:55 PM

A: The Sonics

Q: What collaboration looked bad on paper, but actually sounded great?

Howard the Duck 07-31-2011 06:23 AM

A. The entire Judgment Night soundtrack, with rappers and metalheads collaborating, but was so successful it spawned the rap-metal genre.

Q. Collaborations that shouldn't have happened, and sounded like shit?

Janszoon 07-31-2011 06:26 AM

A: Leonard Cohen and Phil Spector:

Q: What is the best glam metal song ever?

funddies 08-01-2011 03:14 AM

A. WhiteSnake
Q. Pop vs Alternative? And why?

Howard the Duck 08-01-2011 04:02 AM

^^ WhiteSnake which song?

A. Alternative, mostly because of heaviness and variety.

Q. Pop or hip-hop?

chipper 08-01-2011 10:12 AM

first, let me say... i really don't base my judgment on labels but simple base on the volume of the songs (between the two genres) i end up liking, Pop.

most expensive music-related purchase you made for yourself, what was it and how much?

A: The most I've ever spent was probably for the Chicago Phish show in August 2009. That was before I learned to be cheap. The three of us who went each bought a full case of a beer ($30/each), two six packs of microbrews ($25/person) some other "party favors" ($60/person), GA Tickets ($50), Hotel room in Chicago, ($45/person) Gas, ($40/person) Food, ($30/person) and merchandise ($75/person).

Q: If someone asked you to come as close as you could to describing your musical taste using only ONE song, which song would you pick?

bob. 08-01-2011 01:38 PM

hard question to answer :)....the first song that popped into my head was Wing Walker by Shellac

if you could see any band (together or not but with their members still alive i.e. no Beatles :) ) get together and perform any album in its entirety.....which band and what album?

debaserr 08-01-2011 03:09 PM

What's the most obscure group/artist you know of? and a brief description of what they are

Mondo Bungle 08-01-2011 03:41 PM

Senmuth. A russian multi instrumentalist, it's like folky, doomy, electronic ambient stuff. He puts out about 15 albums a year.

Who's your fav artist played on the radio?

Howard the Duck 08-01-2011 08:06 PM

A: Bon Jovi and Motley Crue come to mind first

Q: Who do you consider the first punk artist/band?

lucifer_sam 08-01-2011 08:38 PM

A: The Stooges. "Punk" might have been commodified by Malcolm MacLaren but it was played long before embarrassing fashion trends became the fad en masse.

Q: In a battle between extremely prolific, albeit spotty releases or intermittent but fantastic albums, which would you prefer you favorite artist to lean towards?

Howard the Duck 08-01-2011 08:49 PM

A. I suppose better quality control would win out.

Q. Your thoughts about prog-folk?

chipper 08-02-2011 07:08 PM

because the genre is highly attached to the political movement, my opinion on the music is strongly attached to my political and social beliefs. i don't think contemporary prog folk artist (if there is anyone who truly is) understands what it really stands for. i don't think no one kicks it like the old ones, Prine and even Dylan and the likes.

required to co-write with someone for your first single, who would you want to write with?

Electrophonic Tonic 08-02-2011 09:42 PM

A: Elton John or George Harrison. It's dead even for me.
