Eurovision Song Contest 2011
If Moldova don't win this competition...there is no justice in the world.
|
Even though it's not technically relevant to me, I liked these:
And of COURSE Moldova's hit |
I'd vote Moldova just for those hats!
|
Is it over yet, so that we won't have to hear another peep about it for another year?

You know I thought I'd just listen to those three vids above and say 'well, this one is the least bad'...
So I watched them and thought about it and... well... no. |

I rarely listen to Pavement btw so I don't know what you're on about there. |

No.
Should I have heard them? I walked in on one while my parents were watching. It was horrendous. Really very, very bad. |
Who won anyway?
|
Azerbaijan wins 2011 eurovision song contest!

I realised these were pretty good songs considering it's the eurovision song context. But they're still... meh, uninspired. I'd say Italy has a rather nice song, altough it's really simple. The vibe is quite allright. But France has the better singer. He actually seems to be able to sing. I dunno, from these three I think my vote goes to france. |
Yeah I'm not saying they're all that great, but definitely better than most of the others. I like Italy's cause it sounds markedly Italian, which is fantastic. I wish more countries embraced their roots instead of just making a pop track. France's singer is indeed talented. What a voice.

Eurovision Song Contest 2011
Azerbaijan will be an interesting venue indeed. The Caspian Sea is a lake but a very big one. They are one of the only countries that can afford to host it with the oil they boast. Not a bad winner either as their song was decent.
Eurovision was much better this year because it was more of a song contest and less political. The voting was much closer and it was only really at the end that Azerbaijan started to pull away a little. Sweden did not suprise me finishing third with their Justin Bieber but Italy were shock second place finishers with a pretty poor song. Greece also did better than expected. Moldova and Bosnia were amongst the poor acts. Well done to Blue and Jedward on finishing in the left hand side of the table, a very respectable effort even if both the performances were poor to say the least. Enjoyable evening on the whole and my decision to watch Eurovision over Britain's Got Talent was a justifiable one! |
I'm going to merge this with the existing Eurovision thread.
|
What is it with the French? The only country who's representative refuses to give the results in English.
Do they really believe the rest of Europe actually know what they're talking about? |

I didn't see this thread. Anyway I do look through the songs, even from preselections, every year even though it can be as much torture as pleasure. This year's semis and finals actually had more decent songs than usual though.
|
I posted this song in another thread, but I guess this is the right thread for it, so I'll post it again. Anyway, this was the only song that I liked. The only song that didn't suck (in my opinion)
|
Serbia should have won. Great song.

An English trait in that they refuse to speak anything but their own language. How dare they try to be more arrogant than we? |
I am just happy Sweden doesn't have to qualify again next year..not that I am a big Saade fan but hey 3rd works for me.All in all it was a good Eurovision but next year, I would invest more in the audio and less in the super huge backround which caused most of the performers to dissapear a bit...
I thought that Lena deserved a bit more credit this year. She sang for Germany back to back which is pretty impressive. And her song is one of the few I could actually listen to post eurovision. Reminds me a bit of early PJ Harvey. |
