I'd just put on something neutral. For situations like this I have a "srs bsns" playlist. It's pretty much compromised of modern classical, ambient, and some chilled electronic stuff.

Music is a big part of our work so when he needs, to he listens to the heavier sound but that's not his preference. i still need this job in the next five years. Quote:
it's an hour and a half drive. we all actually make it a point to make mistakes so he can correct us and not make him feel we are all better than he is. corporate america ladies and gentlemen. btw, the recommendations rock. thanks. i think the safest is go the radio route. also, the guy is pretty cool. i don't think i would have been able to worked with him for 7 years if he isn't. he just has a differen taste in music.

When you're putting on your seatbelt:
"I usually listen to heavy stuff when I drive, but I also like (anything middleground between you two, no matter for example Faith No More, and Jimi Hendrix, and _________. What do you think, I've only got 'x' CD's/these bands on mp3 player, etc. If it's the radio, tune it to what you tune it to and keep it medium low like said previously. If you have CD's, let them choose a disc. If you have an MP3 player, let them "Be DJ" for the trip. If they don't want to, play something you would imagine is neutral. You must have something neutral, right? Not like Allanis Morisette or his exact interests, but something in the ballpark? You know your selection of music and you know your audience. Play accordingly, watch for signs of uncomfortability with the music and skip tracks when necessary. If your boss is a prude and you don't mind, even ... ugh ... apologize for any uncomfortable musical moments if he seems offended. Hope that helps... |
