I'm going to try this out, I haven't read all 9 pages of this thread yet but I have a pretty large collection of songs that you wouldn't think that I like/listen to.

Okay I'm set up now and my songs are indexing.

funlvngcrmnl is my username if anyone wants to add me.

I have one question though. When I was setting up some options, there was something mentioned about upload return. Should I have that option listed as yes or no. Currently it's listed as No.

I have a second question, where do I go to add people to my user list?

s_k 05-11-2011 11:20 AM

In the upper right corner is the user list windows. It's big and white and empty. Just right click it and choose add user.
If i'm not mistaken you don't want upload return to be on.
Not sure what it was, but I think it should be off :D

I just added you and you appear to be online :)

djchameleon 05-11-2011 11:23 AM

I found it, the window wasn't automatically up.

I just looked under the View menu and I found view user list and it showed up right where you said it should be.

yeah upload return didn't sound too appealing that's why I said No to begin with but thanks for the confirmation.

I'm down like James Brown.

What's your username?

RVCA 05-11-2011 01:36 PM

My computer will be on all day (for the next 11 hours or so) if anyone wants to leech off me... steal some BTO or some Bee Gees

Hold up, I need to configure my router first. Which requires remembering my password.. ugh.

Sansa Stark 05-11-2011 01:50 PM

Also, I have a ****load of ebooks that are currently being organised.

All you need is this to read them
Adobe - Digital Editions

Chrysalis 05-11-2011 02:19 PM

Anybody else online? It brings up an error when I try to access RVCA's files.

And just so I won't have to repeat this, the Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Dream Theater albums are my brother's.

I can access them fine. Your's, however, aren't showing up. Say's No files shared, and there's no numbers on your file column. Something's up with your share. Go into the options and make sure your shared folder is still there, exit the program and re-enter. Let your file index update, and I'll try you again.

MoonlitSunshine 05-11-2011 02:37 PM

Right, have everything online now. I apologise for the state of my music folder, which is quite messy. I don't apologise for any music in it, though! Well, maybe some things...

Definitely interested. I'm also going to share some of my film collection with you guys :) If you like Samurai films....

You might be interested in my VST plugins and sample collection, also.

Oh definitely, that sounds like the business!

EDIT: I'm working on getting mine up still.

CanwllCorfe 05-11-2011 07:36 PM

Got everything cleared up. I'll be online now.

Mrd00d 05-11-2011 08:45 PM

Mrd00d is online and on board. Take note, those are zeroes in the name. Give me an add, I'm excited!

You still no online!
I went ahead and aborted that Burial album, because Mrd00d had it and was online. So you can go ahead and clear those aborted transfers.

CanwllCorfe 05-11-2011 09:58 PM

Oh it's all empty, I don't even see anything in my transfers.

BTW: I have some assorted stuff in my Club folder. It's not ALL club material.

dankrsta 05-12-2011 11:24 AM

Okay, put me on that participants list. My username is the same, dankrsta.

Freebase Dali 05-12-2011 01:06 PM

Excellente!

s_k 05-12-2011 03:52 PM

Nice collection, Dankrsta

dankrsta 05-12-2011 04:02 PM

Thanks s_k. I just saw you have The Skatalites. That's a band that piqued my interest during the ska week. So, expect some stealing :)

s_k 05-12-2011 04:13 PM

Please do. May I advise you to listen to the Slackers too? They're one of my favourite ska bands. As for the Skatalites, I believe I added ball of Fire to the list, right?
I'll now download my favourite skatalites compilation ("Foundation ska"). I didn't have that on my PC yet, so I'll add it to my Soulseek MusicBanter folder asap :)

dankrsta 05-12-2011 04:25 PM

Ok, I'll check out Slackers too. What album do you recommend? I see you have a few.

s_k 05-12-2011 04:50 PM

Haha, the ones I uploaded.
I suggest you start with close my eyes and then Peculiar.
The Lost and Found is a collection of alt. versions/outtakes :).
It's got some really nice versions of Slackers songs.
I still prefer 'Estranged' on lost & found to 'estranged' on their album "Self Medication"

CanwllCorfe 05-12-2011 06:26 PM

Added everyone! Feel free to get whatever from me. The majority of my collection is Electronic stuff (especially of the club oriented kind).

RVCA 05-12-2011 08:57 PM

This is sooooooooooooooooooooooo slow lol

edit: Also, don't trust the "bitrate" field when browsing other people's collections... apparently, it says a lot my stuff is at a ridiculously low bitrate (like 32 or something), when in reality almost everything is 192 or above

s_k 05-13-2011 12:13 PM

It probably doesn't understand VBR :)

RoemerMW 05-13-2011 12:37 PM

This sounds great, my username is roemerwm

Currently downloading a Django Reinhardt comp from s__K, thanks for putting it up, been looking for that for a while now.

s_k 05-13-2011 12:50 PM

Before anyone asks: Yes it really is.
Not MW :D

RVCA 05-14-2011 02:25 PM

Anyone know why random songs fail to download properly?

s_k 05-14-2011 02:56 PM

I dunno. I switched it off this afternoon as I had to restart the computer.
Could be the problem :)

RoemerMW 05-14-2011 04:05 PM

No idea, it's worked fine for me so far. Oh, and RVCA, I've been raiding you collection like crazy, been looking for that Carissa's Wierd album for quite awhile, thanks!

It usually has something to do with the user you're downloading from going offline or having a connection issue for that particular song. If any songs error out, simply right-click and retry. The song should then be remotely queued until your current download is finished.

Is there a reason that when I try to browse your files it says "no files shared?"

Is that the message that a person gets when someone doesn't want a particular person to look through their collection?

No, I've added you so you should have full access. I'll restart. Try again!

Edit:
Also, make sure you've got things set up correctly. Is your port open?

Edit2:
Actually, my port must have changed, because it shows closed.
Fixing that.

Freebase Dali 05-14-2011 06:40 PM

Ok, I've figured something out.
When you set up your port forwarding in your router, and add the server IP (which is your own computer's IP), everything's good.... but... most routers have a DHCP function and dynamically assign your computer a private IP like 192.168.1.X... The problem is that the lease isn't usually set to be indefinite, and when you turn off your computer, and turn it back on, the router may issue you a different IP from its scope.
The result is that the port forwarding server IP is now different from your computer's current IP, causing the incorrect configuration.

The way to fix this would be to set your DHCP lease, in your router, to indefinite (or by making a reserved IP for your computer). Or, simply configure your NIC to have a static IP address in the network your router's DHCP function advertises.

If anyone needs help with this, let me know.

djchameleon 05-14-2011 06:40 PM

hmmm I don't know if it's on my end or what but I can see RCVA's collection just fine but it still says no files shared for you.
