All I have to say is, how can you dislike Adele's voice:

Adele has an amazing voice, but it's the main focus of her music and it's used much the same in all her work. This causes it to bore me.

Still partial to Lisa Gerrard. She does some pretty cool things with her vocals. No idea what she's singing though

Well, while Western society seems to expect women to enter the music world as either pop idols, Joni Mitchell-esque singer/songstresses or R&B oriented wantons, I don't think women are any better or worse than men in a vocalist or band context, and are out there doing just as many original things as their more testosterone-laden gender contemporaries.

One thing I think everyone can agree upon, however, is that both men and women bring different things to the table when it comes to sonic conceptualization and execution.

Really? I never get bored of her voice being the main element.

That's my primary problem with female singer/songwriters. The vocals are the focus, and the music supporting them is a lower priority, and I need more than the vocals to be excellent for music to have longevity with me. This is why I can't really get behind acts like Florence and the Machine or Adele or My Brightest Diamond.

Well some men can be mainly about the vocals as well, from Bob Dylan to Bon Iver. The main thing to me is whether I find the music interesting enough or not, whether it be mainly through the vocals or the rest of the music. Sometimes like Jonsi's solo album I wish the vocal part sounded more substantial for me to help guide the melody rather than just having a more vague atmosphere. Vocals traditionally have dominated the musical texture of most solo artists anyway.

Her voice was extremely good, but I couldn't help but get extremely bored of it about 1/3 of the way through.

With that being said I recently started listening to Symphonic Metal which shows off good female singers.

I don't like music based on just liking a voice, the music that comes out of that voice has to interest me.
