I tried to add a couple videos but, evidently, I'm too much a newbie to do so. Two women who I think can rock as hard as most men are Patti smith and Chrissie Hynde. When I've posted enough, I'll post some videos as evidence.

Joan Jett is pretty good too, theres lotta good female vocalists, I cnt remember the group but i heard a good death metal song with a lead female

Honestly, I tend to like female vocals possibly a bit more than male in a lot of music. And a lot of my favorite songs/bands have both female and male vocalists. Listening to vocals as an instrument, there's times when one or the other works better with the music, no different than sometimes a crunchy guitar sounds good and other times you just need reverb. I don't see any point in discriminating against either in any sort of music. It's definitely a male dominated market though, which kinda sucks.
