Yeah.. I know a lot of people feel that way. Personally I really like Morning View and Light Grenades (particularly the second half, there are some ok songs on the first half), and A Crow Left of The Murder has some great songs on it as well... but it's quite obvious I feel this way from my original post :P

Did you ever hear Look Alive (The album, not the song, released in 2005)? Entirely instrumental, quite a good ambience album imo. I know it's not a "good" thing as such, but it's always nice to see a mainstream band who could just repeat the same old stuff and make millions out of it experimenting a little. While it's not massive experimentation, it's enough to make a difference.

No, I'm not familiar with that album. I lost interest after Morning View and A Crow Left of The Murder.

Autechre's discography is freaking amazing. Every album has something new to offer, and they way that they push themselves forward on every album never ceases to impress me. you can't just listen to one Autechre album, each album is completely different.

Me too! What about Fungus Amongus, though? There were some great tracks on there. S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself were a couple of my favorites from them though. I lost interest after Morning View. Well, that was the last album I bought from them, anyway. I liked them so much back then because they largely reminded me of FNM. They had their own twist on things, but the more albums that came out, the more things seemed to turn to ****. I, personally, would not consider them a band with a strong discography.

He has a lot of stuff with many musicians. I would consider it a group effort.

Just look at the list of musicians on "Rain Dogs" for example:

Tom Waits – Vocals (1-10, 12-17, 19), Guitar (2, 4, 6, 8-10, 15-17), Farfisa Organ (3, 19), Piano (5, 12), Pump Organ (8), Banjo (13), Harmonium (18)
Michael Blair - Percussion (1-4, 7, 8, 13, 17), Marimba (2, 7, 10, 12), Congas (4), Drums (8, 14, 18), Metal Percussion (12), Bowed Saw (12), Parade Drum (19)
Stephen Taylor Arvizu Hodges - Drums (1, 2, 4, 6, 10, 11, 15, 16), Parade Drums (3)
Larry Taylor - Double Bass (1, 3, 4, 6, 8-10, 15), Bass (7, 11, 14, 16)
Marc Ribot - Guitar (1-4, 7, 8), Lead Guitar (10)
Chris Spedding - Guitar (1)
Hollywood Paul Litteral - Trumpet (1, 11, 19)
Tony Garnier - Double Bass (2)
Bobby Previte - Percussion (2), Marimba (2)
William Schimmel - Accordion (3, 9, 10)
Bob Funk - Trombone (3, 5, 10, 11, 19)
Ralph Carney - Baritone Sax (4, 14), Sax (11, 18), Clarinet (12)
Greg Cohen - Double Bass (5, 12, 13)
Keith Richards - Guitar (6, 14, 15), Backing Vocals (15)
Robert Musso - Banjo (7)
Arno Hecht - Tenor Sax (11, 19)
Crispin Cioe - Sax (11, 19)
Robert Quine - Guitar (15, 17)
Ross Levinson - Violins (15)
John Lurie - Alto Sax (16)
G.E. Smith - Guitar (17)
Mickey Curry - Drums (17)
Tony Levin - Bass (17)
Robert Kilgore - Organ (17)

Either way, he plays so many instruments himself, he is like a one man band.

ok, fine. But I still count him. His discography is stronger than most bands named here.

Title should be edited to bands/artists with the strongest discography.

Tom Waits and Elliott Smith deserve to have a spot in any topic of strong discographies.

but ok, I will play by the rules:

Husker Du
The Replacements
Nirvana
Pixies
Heatmiser (if I can't count Elliott Smith, I will count them)

ok, I am struggling now... going I could count this band... but this one album was pretty shotty.
