I definitely agree that them being signed with IRS allowed them more creative freedom. However, I also think that in signing with Warner Bros., it was a step further in their career as Warner Bros. were better able to market their music to a bigger audience. I'm not really sure where they would be if they had stayed with IRS. Probably not in existence (as IRS went out of business in 1996), or they would have signed with a bigger label anyways.

I think the Deftones have had a very solid discography. The only weak point is Saturday Night Wrist...and even that has its moments.
