Would agree with all the above, Manic Street Preachers could fit that description too.

The members of Secret Chiefs 3 are everyone from Mr. Bungle except Mike Patton. If you've never heard them, they're really worth a listen. Imagine if Bungle was an instrumental band with strong cinematic and middle eastern influences and you get a pretty good idea what they sound like. Here's a little sampling, though, like Bungle, they sound pretty different from song to song: |

Doesn't matter if these bands are "critically acclaimed" or not. Even though I've listed a few on this list that are. All that matters is that they're consistant in there discography and manage to produce some great albums.

Bang and Blame, I Don't Sleep I Dream are some of the best tracks they had done for years. Oddly enough I don't think I have heard a full album since Monster. Maybe I am missing out but Monster was so out there (for them) that I never felt the need to return to them.

I just youtubed them. I am not familiar with either one of these bands yet, to have an opinion on who's better, but I just put them both on my list of bands to check out. Thanks guys! |

Yes on Miles too. He had a knack for assembling great musicians and demanding their best. I can't say I love every album but he was willing to take risks and try new directions. |
