Youtube comments
I use youtube to listen to a lot of music. I like to comment from time to time just to give my two cents on how much I like this artist or what have you. But I am growing tired of reading on every single video (in particular with the electronic genre) people making comments like so:
-The police just raided my apartment on a 'sick ass noise' complaint. That dislike must be the shop owner downstairs. -ZOMG EARGAZIM -"Thumbs up if you _______________________" -the best part was 0:00-4:12 (on a 4:12 length song) and mixed in with all of these ridiculous comments are random ass trolling arguments. I'm curious to know if any of the MB members have noticed the same thing plaguing youtube. there isn't even an option to hide the comments.

I would ironically thumbs up this comment, were we on YouTube.
Though yeah, that's pretty much it. YouTube comments are not only bad because the way they're structured inhibits intelligent discussion, but also because the 'like/dislike' system leads to a lot of people (94%) cracking immature jokes about how 393 people are Justin Bieber fans. It shows the ignorant side of humanity that I really can't stand. I'm guilty of it a few times, sure, but eh... |

Worse are the now self righteous people who post and subsequently 'thumbs up' messages about how youtube used to be in the 'good old days', before evil companies like Vevo came in and put a few adverts on things. I can generally wait 5 seconds extra to hear a song, and if I cant I can always find a lyrics version without the wait. Those adverts from vevo and the like pay for what is a massive website now, without them we'd more than likely have to pay a subscription fee which people would then be moaning about as well.
Hip Hop videos generally have a '2pac is still alive' conspiracy discussion on them. Metal videos have 'Metallica vs Megadeth'. All videos seem to have Justin Bieber comments. And they all have ****heads telling everyone else to stop commenting with all of the above. I hate youtube comments.... but they are hilarious sometimes. |

Yeah, I used to comment on videos from time to time and read some of the other comments, but I've found its useless, now I just watch the videos. To me the most annoying things are probably when someone goes to music they already don't know they like just to make trolling comments about the video, I feel bad for people with nothing better to do with their time than that. I also hate how Justin Bieber somehow gets brought into comments on basically ANY music video.

Some of the comments on some of the things I like are awful. Autechre songs usually have "AFX is better" comments and Aphex videos usually have "RDJ IS NAWT TECHNOES IT'S POST-PROGRESSIVE AVANT-GARDE COMPLEX NON-DANCEABLE DANCE MUSIC!" Post-Tyondai battles songs comments usually have "Tyondai made x accounts and disliked the video" and Mirrored-era battles videos always have either "I'm glad tyondai's gone" or "Battles are nothing without Tyondai ". Boards of canada videos always have at least one douchebag going on about how many drugs he's done and any jazz I like usually has a comment saying "I don't get it" or "what the **** is this?"
the only logical comments I've ever seen were on Kayo Dot songs, mainly because people who listen to Kayo Dot are generally open minded and don't care if metal is true or not and are just there to enjoy the music. though, the funniest comments are always on Sunn O))) videos. They're usually full of fans of the band making good-natured drone jokes with actual wit. I haven't seen any "843653875 people are Justin Bieber fans" comments on the videos but there sure are a lot of people passing by saying "lol isn't muzic jus BWOOOOOO lol". I tend to ignore them. |

Ugh the Justin Beiber ones are the worst! Also, the comments about the number of dislikes, like, "20 people accidentily hit the dislike button" or whatever - I hate those. I try to avoid commenting on YouTube for the most part so I don't end up like the guy in that cartoon. (That cartoon is genius by the way. I saved that one.)
