).....and as sad as this truly sounds.....i think i remember seeing something about a hot dog place in Detroit called Conney Island on the Food Net

Astroland is what closed. Coney Island is the name of the beach area where Astroland used to be and is definitely still open. You may be right about the hot dog place though, I could definitely imagine businesses outside of New York using a name like that.
