Default A Little Help

I am aware I have only just begun posting on this site, I cannot even profess to be a long time reader. I apologize in advance if what I ask is construed as selfish. I hope over time to become a valued contributor to this site.

I have for a long time wanted to write about music. I am also very shy about anything I would write. I have recently started a blog about music just a little piece about some facet of the music world and a link to a grooveshark playlist with the songs.

I imagine there are many informed music posters on this site. I was wondering if anyone at all would be interested in maybe reading a post from this blog, a few lines, even just listen to the playlist you know glance at it and click 'back'. I would just love any little bit of feedback.

If you would be interested would you mind indicating so and i'll pm you or pm me and I will pm the url for the blog as due to the low number posts I have submitted I cannot post a URl.

I appreciate this could be seen as rude to ask of your time like this, if this has annoyed you. I apologize. Can I just ask that if maybe in time you come to enjoy any of my input you might maybe then have a peek!

Thank you very much for your time.

You may want to stick around a bit longer so you don't have to avoid the URL-rule. There's a reason for that rule you know .

Don't worry about appearing to be rude. It is true that we may have taken your link down if you had joined and immediately started a thread to share it or placed it in your sig, but we're much more tolerant about that kind of stuff once you have been here a little while.

Also, check out the members journal forum. If you wish to start one and share your reviews with us there, then feel free.

Air, behind Air, before Air.
Today's music relaxed yesterday.

Air, the French electronic duo, responsible for the 'best comedown music ever' or so we've all been told by some eager soul at some stage. The dreamy electro chill sound of Air is truly a treat for those who remain ignorant to their existence.

What lay before Air? I always wondered what had inspired Air as when I first heard them, they were a breath of fresh ........ I have since discovered a number of bands, who may or may not, definitely did or most certainly did not influence them depending on who is bending your ear.

The first band I researched along this line were Tangerine Dream. A bunch of starry eyed Krautrockers straight out of Germany incidentally enough. Their music was labelled 'New Age Music' to the chagrin of the band who disliked the term. They have released over a hundred studio albums. I wish you well in beginning your journey. The last year of their so called 'Virgin Years' saw the release of the album 'Hyperborea'. I have included the title track on this album for its sheer dreamy brilliance. The 8 minute journey is one best enjoyed alone. Tangerine Dream used play some of their indoor concerts in total darkness, the only lights in the arena being the flashing LEDs on the bands equipment.

Pictured above is Jean Michel Jarre. I included the picture as he just looks so cool. Jarre like the duo behind Air is French. He is recognised as a pioneer of synthpop and ambient new age. His music seems an adequate expression of what one might imagine what the halycon days of Paris in the seventies were like. I have included a live performance of 'Magnetic Fields Part 2' from the 'Magnetic Fields' album, released in '83 and reaching 6th in the UK charts. The contrast to Tangerine Dream is obvious, it is a little lighter and a little poppier.

Also included on the playlist are 2 tracks by Jean Jacques Perrey an early exponent of the key board predecessor of the synthesizer. Born in 1929 he released an album as recently as 2 years ago.

Air are a modern treasure a truly different and interesting band floating in a sea of JLS inspired mediocrity. I think it is interesting to see the vague similarities in the work of these artists who went before them. I hope you enjoy the playlist. If you have any questions etc

The picture and URL for the playlist didn't come across.

As mojo said, you can start a journal here: Members Journal - Music Banter

Also, you can put your blog in your signature, as long as you're not forcing it on us, so that it doesn't look like spam.

When people take notice of your posts, writing and reviews around the forum, they will check out your blog, don't worry.

well, I can definitely see you're a beginner - people might actually want to read more substantial descriptions and evaluation of the music from your vantage point since people may not have heard Tangerine Dream or Jarre.

and it sounds more like a blurb than a critique

but keep it up......
