Futile attempt for interesting conversation

if a ration came about which meant you could only keep one CD due to a shortage of errr, disk material- what one album would you keep and why.
while we're at it, favourite decade of music?

i'll answer my own post, i'd keep led zeppelin greatest hits and my favourite decade of music is the 90s. or the 60s. cant decide!

Trauma 04-07-2005 07:17 PM

Shortage of disk metal eh?
I'd keep none so more people could have them but I would just listen to the Nirvana, Clash, and Smashing Pumpkins tracks on my computer more often.
Anything but the 80's, most of it was just blah.

Not me, 80s is my favorite decade for music, HANDS DOWN.

I dont know about that #one# cd, but I dont think i can go far without my Al Green Greatest Hits cd.

My proverbial "desert island" album is The Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

A mixtape.

jibber 04-07-2005 08:29 PM

yeah I'd keep my mixed CD of songs from ski movies. I couldn't live without it. Just out of curiosity, would be still be allowed to put that one CD into mp3 players?

and for the second part, I'm really not sure what my favorite decade was. There's been awesome songs that I could listen to forever from the 60's and on. There were a few classics that I still love from the 50's (yeah I'm a geek, I know), but i'd still go with the 60's and on.

Anarchy doll 04-07-2005 08:37 PM

the early 70's in th UK!

Sneer 04-08-2005 05:39 AM

wasnt punk a mid-late 70s boom? i always though of the early 70s as the zeppelin/sabbath/heep/purple era. of course im just assuming you meant punk.

Sweet Jane 04-08-2005 07:03 AM

I'd made a compilation - The Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen, Joy Division, Smiths, Cure, Neil Young, Songs: Ohia, PJ Harvey, Wilco, The Kinks, Sonic Youth, ...Trail of Dead, Jim O'Rourke and Mogwai would all have to be on it.

KingJen 04-09-2005 02:45 AM

I have no idea... I think i'd follow the crowd and make a compilation... But to be fair... I think I'm the reason for the shortage of 'CD metal'.... :D I'VE GOT IT ALL AND ITS AWESOME!

Probably 'Sketches For my Sweetheart the drunk' by Jeff Buckley and 'Siamese Dream', Smashing Pumpkins, 'Nevermind' Nirvana... :band:

DEFINITELY! i was so going to say that cd, but u beat me to it, so good choice! :)

blackTshirt 04-18-2005 05:37 AM

i'd invent a huge CD and put everything i like on it. oh, and i'd invent a huge CD-player too so i could listen to the huge CD

or just take the Nirvana box-set. they're 3 CDs and a DVD but i'd pretend it's just one cd. fave decades: 70s and 90s (just rock and punk)
