I'm necroing this thread because it seems like a better option than creating a new one for the purpose of discussing two musicians and their political beliefs.
Ok, so I've been doing a lot of reading on Death In June and Boyd Rice, a lot. Death In June seem more concealed in their motives (thankfully), and the music itself can be enjoyed without any pretenses. Douglas is a known homosexual, and has played in Israel (and putting the Israel flag on his site for a few months), but peppered throughout his career are racial, and fascist moments. Unfortunately, the same does not go for Boyd Rice, and is known for his racial, strong misogynist views, and affiliation with fascist ideology. With Boyd, it seems as he wants to be hated for the sake of it, and even though his fanbase has a large number of white nationalists, I can't help but feel this isn't some elaborate sick way to fuck with people. If he really is a master prankster, he will go to insane lengths to be one, and is indeed and undeniably a misanthrope. tl;dr: Boyd is an asshole, DIJ are probably not assholes. |

If this is from personal experience I would have to say that Aiden, and Three Bad Jacks are some off the coolest musicians out there as far as shooting the ****, hanging with the crowd, and general demeanor. Atreyu quite the opposite.

I would like to think that Bradley Nowell would have been a really chill dude to hang out with. He always looked like he was having such a good time during live performances. He was all about just getting lit and having fun

For Mean singers i gotta say Axl rose Arrogant and mean as ****, his snobby attitude was his own downfall IMO and it's not like HE HIMSELF was a rockstar god, the BAND was good, he was just the singer yea, he added to it but he wasn't the main reason Guns & roses were good

Some I have met but some I haven't
John Darnielle is really nice, so is Brian Fallon. Kevin Drew was also really cool when I met him. Oh and also Madeline Ava is the biggest sweetheart, so shy and normal. No musicians I have met have been really mean, but I can definitely imagine Axl Rose being an ass, and definitely Liam and Noel Gallagher as well.

Even though he's got some (self admitted) anger issues, I always thought that Henry Rollins would be a genuine and charming person to have a cup of tea with. I've never met the guy, so anyone who's met/been beaten to a pulp by him is free to tell me if I'm wrong.

I met Dave Murray from Iron Maiden once briefly. Very pleasant chap. I was at Buddy Guys Legends in Chicago, when I walked up to the bar, there he was just standing there by himself sipping on a drink. I was starstuck and I just blurted out "Your Dave Murray!" as he nodded while sipping. I told him of my days of learning everything from Killers to Powerslave note for note backwards and forwards and I thanked him for unknowngly inspiring me to challenge myself to become a better musician. He said you're welcome and it was nice meeting a real fan. I skipped off happily, and gushed about it to my friend.
