Default how to get new album releases alert?

i follow about 100 artists and bands so checking manually is tedious and very time consuming. and also i am very busy.

is there any way i can get new album releases alert automatically ?
i tried following artists on facebook, but they talk about everything except music. i am interested only in music not what they do.

music-alert.com and last.fm are not very accurate.

suggestion - we can start a thread like "<artist>musicupdate" for each artist and post new releases there.

The only thing I can think of is downloading an RSS Feed Reader and adding each band's website to it. You'd have any news the band posts that way, not just album notices.

That's a great idea.

That's the only good way.
I used to do this using metacritic.com but they changed it all and it sucks now.
I suggest we make a topic in which we collect nice feeds from different websites with a little discription. Is that an idea?

it can be great if post are selected on the basis of certain words like new releases, new album etc.

I think we should make an upcoming releases thread if we don't have one already. People can submit release dates and it's all compiled chronologically in the first post. We could also post whether they've leaked or not.

2. threads for each artist

Good starting point: http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...rd-2011-a.html

It would just be nice if more people posted what they know about each release rather than just the name of the artist they're looking forward to new stuff from. Like:

Quote:
artist - album (label, release date)

[artwork if available]
And yes, compiling them chronologically in the first post would be nice.

As of now, I use a combination of forums, last.fm, facebook, label newsletters, etc. to keep track of what's coming out. I don't find it tedious because I don't necessarily look for new releases, they just find their way to me.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

i dont mean to be rude but this is totally opposite of what i (and others)) want.

i like to waste as little time as possible in finding what i want and u are saying, go through a list of thousands of albums for few albums.

well thats is very very time consuming and for me (a student) its impossible.

nonetheless ur suggestion should be included,

1. customized rss feed

2. threads for each artist

3. one thread for all new releases for say a month or year of all artists

what do u say ?
