Default Senoras y Senores - It's Latin Week!

The theme calendar only says latin, but not if it's going to be latin jazz or latin pop music or anything between and beyond. So, what I suggest is that we use this week to simply celebrate what we think of as latin flavoured music which we enjoy, whatever genre might better describe it.

.. Because then I can use that as an excuse to post this video of Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin playing Mediterranean Sundance, a song from Meola's 1977 solo album Elegant Gypsy

I wish I could play like that.

Gene Shaw playing some mellow jazz music with a groovy latin twist.

From one of my favorite records, Carnival Sketches.

Jose Padilla is something of a legend in Spain especially the Balearic scene. He was one of the original DJ'S at the legendary Cafe Del Mar club in Ibiza and is also a talented musician in his own right.

It is one of my ambitions to visit Cafe Del Mar: Café del Mar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I love this week.

I don't really understand the OP but:

This album is amazing. And played at pretty much every party my family had when I was a kid.

I`ve enjoyed all the clips so far: I thought this thread would be full of Buena Vista Social Club spin offs, but I should`ve guessed nothing so obvious would turn up here.

I wonder if anyone knows this song, very popular with angry Mexican teenagers because it`s very rude about the USA and addresses the controvertial subject of Mexicans working illegally in the US :

I don't know if it strictly qualifies as Latin, it's got a heavy tejano influence, but I've been diggin' on these guys a lot lately. Just trying to get in touch with my imaginary Texas roots:

Nice! Molotov is one those bands I've always meant to check out but have never gotten around to. I'll definitely have to give them a listen now.

And speaking of Mexican bands, this thread is surely not complete without a little Cafe Tacuba:
