Default Sex Drugs Alcohol: Did you ever try making it?

Wherever there's fans who love the art, there will emerge artists. Unfortunately the stage doesnt have enough room for us all. The world simply isn't designed for all of us to be successful.

Did you ever have a band, group or try make it on your own? IF so, what genre of music were you into? What made you give up? Do you have any samples of how good you were? what do you do instead? Do you have any regrets? and What was your ultimate dream?

Have to own up and say im a musician myself, and am curious to know how the lives of every other aspiring artist turned out in the end.

Trying to form one at the moment. I don't really consider it an attempt to "make it" since my stylings are not every market friendly, but I do what to assemble a group that can pull off my compositions in a live context.

I made a okay living off of my music for a while. A combination of passive interests becoming prominent and patterns of addiction ended that. I'd still like to try again soon. But I'm back at home meeting new people and trying new things for a while.

I guess it depends why you mean by "trying to make it". I mean I released a free album last year through an online label and 5,500 people downloaded it which made me pretty happy. But it's not like it earned me any money or anything.

I have made it in the past and still occasionally enjoy making it.

I played in a silly band with my friends that mostly did covers when we were all like 13. We played like 3 sets at some local events, recorded one original song, and called it quits. We made a total of $100 doing it.

I guess the main theme of the post was passion. And I suppose technically speaking 'making it' is whatever you wish for it to be, depending on you standards ie its just meeting the goal that you set out to accomplish. For some its just impressing your friends, for others its just being able to make good music. But what I meant by it was actually making this your life, living for music, attempting to rise to the highest levels, AC/DC - Michaeal Jackson - Bono etc. Being a rockstar, having sold out crowds of 50 thousand people screaming your name, singing along to what is your piece of this art, attaining a life that most people will never see, the sex, drugs and alcohol lifestyle...where its just you rocking to the death..an infectious passion...Something so spectacular it changes things, maybe lives...or even remodels a genre...but yeah, that's just me, im plenty psycho,lol...Thanks for the great posts guys really appreciate it...And Janszoon it would be really cool to hear some of your stuff , sounds like you knew what you wanted to do and actually did it.
