For Jackhammer and Pedestrian:

A pretty straightforward blues rock album. Id say it sounds pretty similar to the black keys. Hopefully neither of you have heard it. Im pretty sure Jackhammer will like it, so hopefully Pedmaster does as well.

ps: Was having trouble with link, so if one I sent doesnt work let me know.

I suppose right now I am listening to a lot of
Miles DAvis
The Antlers
Grouper
Beach House
and CAss McCombs

I was disappointed in the lack of variety in guitar tones and the pacing, and the vocalist was a bit irritating. I can't say I've listened to an awful lot of Psych, but I've preferred albums by Sleepy Sun and Shooter Jennings. I did see a bit of the Black Keys in this, to start, but as the songs continued I found I could draw fewer parallels.

Nevertheless, always grateful to learn about an artist, and thank you for the recommendation. I'll give anything a fair shot.

Metal with a definite old-school vibe that I think you'll dig. This album is just an odds and ends collection of limited release 7 inches and things along those lines but in my humble opinion is actually better than the one studio album I have by these guys. Enjoy!

I couldn't really get on with this. It certainly wasn't awful but the old school vibe was just that - heard it all before and the low grade production actually got on my nerves a little. Oddly enough (apart from a few albums) I always find most Metal albums (apart from some Black albums) have half decent production, so whether it was intentional to be lo fi or not it spoilt the enjoyment of the album for me.

PM'd you regarding this one already being in my collection. Cheers anyway!

You mentioned that you would like to hear more from my recent journal post regarding Underworld, so here is where they really started. Ambient dance/techno music is about the right way to describe them.

For Dankstra:

Spoken word mid 90's Electronica with a subversive edge that has dated really well. Quite hypnotic.

Not sure if you have heard this U.K Drum N Bass album. It does however veer off in other directions- jungle, ambient, dubstep etc and might be a great intro to other electronic genres from over here.

I am looking for more to post their tastes and what they are looking for as I don't get on MB as much as I used to and would really like to throw some more albums out there.

I will take one from you.

Send me anything pretty much and I will get back to you with a mini-review.

Oh actually, since my knowledge of punk is pretty limited maybe you can send something in that vein. it counts as a genre I don't listen to as often.

Or maybe an album that is considered Avant Garde another genre I have overlooked.

Not an up to date one, but I'll get on it.

I sent CHCl3 Melvins' Bullhead a while back and never got a review... so I'm assuming he didn't like it. oh well

Am I the only one who sees the irony of people having to check people's Last Fm accounts to see what their musical tastes are ON A MUSIC FORUM.

It's much easier/lazy to ask for their Last FM than it is to click on their user name and look through to see which genre forums they have posted in.

Well that's disappointing. I think it's really good. The other album I have by them is much better produced but not nearly as good.
