I want something from you too! (Even though I'm pretty sure you commented before that we have opposite tastes) but surprise me.

Yeah, I'll download them as soon as I am connected to some good internet. It's really slow here at my school...

Sent to theuglyorgan:
Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch I saw that you were looking for a good introduction into jazz, and I thought that I'd share with you one of the first jazz albums I ever listened to - it really helped me get into the genre as a whole! While still pretty avant-garde for jazz music, this recording is very tuneful and listenable. Eric Dolphy is a master, and the recording is an interesting foray into the genre.

for bob.
Despite our very similar taste I found something that you're not really into - good post-rock. So I'm sending you Gastr Del Sol - Serpentine Similar (1993) One of those bands along with Slint and Tortoise that had enormous influence on post-rock. Gastr Del Sol is somehow always neglected in that regard, so I'm sending you their first album, my favorite. Enjoy! for Urban Hatemonger So, I've been looking at your last.fm and browsing your RYM and, man, what a collection. You like Factrix? and MX-80 Sound...and Minimal Compact But I didn't see Tuxedomoon, that's what's missing And one other thing - a couple albums from ex-Yu groups really surprised me like Videosex, Idoli, Teska Industrija. Cool! So I thought of sending you Tuxedomoon, but I'm pretty sure that's right up your alley, so I've decided to send you something that you don't seem to really listen, but you may like it, since I saw a couple of albums by Six Organs Of Admittance in your collection. Jackie-O Motherfucker - Liberation (2001) Freak-folk, psych, drone, space rock, whatever...mind blowing for sure. Hope you'll like it. Enjoy! for Skaligojurah Vibracathedral Orchestra - Versatile Arab Chord Chart (2000) Improvisational, psychedelic collective, kinda similar to the one above, but more droney and spaced out. Start tripping!

For Urban Hatemonger: Action Swingers - Decimation Blvd i spent over an hour looking through your massive collection....and after many decision changes i stuck with this ignored american punk rock classic....although you have lots of stuff kind of like this....nothing quite to this level basically think Iggy Pop fronting Pussy Galore after a week long binge on bathtub speed and bourbon! for Rezz: Pigface - Notes From The Underground i know you dig the stoner rock....this is thee ultimate drug induced "rock" super band...i think there is something like 34 members on this album including members of Swans, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Red Hot Chili peppers, Throbbing gristle and Dead Kennedys....the result is a well made blissful cacophony! |

Most of those bands I picked up when I was doing my whole 'listen to a band from every country' thing. I seemed to find Yugoslavian post punk really easy to find for some reason. I have heard one Jackie-O Motherfucker album & was a bit meh about it. I'll give this one a go.

I sent Bob a few albums and if anyone else fancies some of these just ask.
Windy And Carl-Depths Spacey Drone. More talented than most of the big names in the genre. can completely transport you to another universe. Dirty Three-Ocean Songs Post-Rock. Possibly the best Post-Rock I have heard, calming music with a Slowcore influence that can soothe anyone. Scianka-Dni wiatru Experimental Polish Psych. Amazing stuff and probably the best music to have come out of Poland. Iron Monkey-Our Problem Sludge Metal. Labelled as "the British Eyehategod". Black Box Recorder-England Made Me Twee, an often misunderstood genre but with some amazing stuff. Such as this album, great pop songs. |
