my fren suggested Porcupine Tree was prog-metal

they mainly sound like over-dressed emo to me

that's just my opinion but PT are not in the same league as Tool

It's not about whether you like like them or not. I don't really like them either, but the music they play IS prog or prog-metal not emo.
