I am into rock music from the 60's yp till now, but I'm usually not all that interested in the people behind it. I don't have a clue what the name of the Singer of Blur is (something with almonds, I dunno) or the singer from Last Shadow Puppets. I like both bands, I just don't care. I know who Jimmy Paige is because People told it to me over and over again. But I don't like Led Zep, so I don't really care. I haven't got a clue what the name of the drummer of the stones is and I always have to think really hard about the fourth (Ringo Starr) Beatle. Nevertheless, I still think it's shocking that some people don't know what "Queen" is. But in the same way I thought it was pretty weird that yesterday I read about a 26 year old guy who watches quite a lot of TV who hadn't got a clue what Pokémon was. He must be a happy man.

them: "Do you like A Day to Remember?" me: "I'm not sure. Play some for me. (Time Lapse) Eh. Sounds like boring pop punk to me." them: "What I really like about them is that they actually sing about... stuff, you know? Like, they tell stories and sing about things I can relate to." me: "Oh, yeah? That's really unique. (to self: eyeroll)" |

i saw them last July and kept yawning through their set. they're REALLY good at the only thing they seem capable of doing though (playing really fast). Megadeth was a far superior performance.
the most common musical statement i hear that always makes my head implode - Jimi Hendrix had giant / unnatural hands that's why he could play the way he does... because there sure as hell wasn't any racism left in the mid 60s with a black man blowing every other guitarist out there totally out of the water using what was originally sold as a 'country and western' guitar. no siree.... Jimi Hendrix was just a mutant.... |

"The second octave?! That's for jazz!''
This dumb comment came from me when I was just say learning modes and two-octave scales. I was convinced that playing in the second octave/above the 12th fret was exclusively for jazz. |
