Muse/Radiohead comparisons.....ew.
Anyways, here's something that just happened 5 minutes ago with my mom who was watching TV. "Who's that?" "Nicki Minaj." "Is she famous?" "Yeah...?" "It doesn't seem like she's famous. All she's doing is rapping." "...what." |

"Wasn't the original Sandstorm song like an hour long?" (Probably got some horrible bootleg made by DJTechnoHouseRaveTranceDance off of Limewire)
"I've been into Trance the longest. Lately I've actually started to get into Techno" "oh1!!like basshunter??" "How do you listen to that stuff. It's all bleeps and bloops." |

I have to agree with your mom on this one ;D. Quote:
I don't get it. To me it's just long and repetitive.

I think Conan mentioned this before but my default response is everything since I do actually try to sample every new genre or style I run across and it results in people I just meet probably thinking I have no musical knowledge at all.
Luckily my close friends know how obsessive I am and they are the first to mention how much music I listen to, so it all works out. I don't like to toot my own horn ya know.

One of my teachers in high school couldn't listen to music because he has epilepsy. Epileptics have what they call an "aura" which is just a feeling or sign that a seizure is coming. It's different for everyone (some people see colors, some smell things, and some actually have intense euphoria). My teacher's auras were that he wold hear music playing in his head so if he ever listened to music his head wouldn't know whether it was real or an aura so he would work himself into a seizure anyway. He could NEVER listen to music. I don't know how I could live if that were me.
