I have in the 1-100 range of albums. But I do have a good many and I do keep on building it up so I dunno where it is at right now.

I want to get a vinyl player so that I can collect and play a bunch of limited run vinyl punk and hardcore EPs and Splits.

I have a goal to scope out a record copy of the Bllleeeeaaauuurrrrgghhh! compilations, just to play that stuff at least once on the legitimate turntable format. Playing that kind of spazzy-power violence digitally just isn't right...

1,245 digital albums, and probably about 60 physical (CDs and vinyl) albums lying around the apartment.

Right - very very short albums then, or very very serious insomnia.

That's completely beside the point anyway.. I'm talking about really getting to know an album, not a SINGLE listen to it.

My point was simply that if you're quoting that you have 1000's of albums, you can't possibly really listen to them all. Not saying there's anything wrong with having 1000's, I just prefer having fewer albums, that I really obsessively love and play to death. Like I mentioned in my post, I also have many albums I hardly listen to at all.

About 824 albums, maybe all bar 20 or so on CD.

That's awfully arrogant and pretentious of you, to assume these things when you clearly haven't gone through them yourself. Considering you admit to having very few albums, maybe you shouldn't try to speak for those who have a larger collection? Perhaps they can handle an amount you can't, and can "really listen" to all of it at the same time. Just saying.

Music is a wonderful thing, wonderful enough in fact, that it doesn't need to be constantly hoisted up upon a pedestal that makes listening to it seem like a search for the Holy Grail. A single listen CAN do it in some cases. I don't do it often as I try to investigate everything, but not EVERYONE is like that. There's really no right or wrong answer here, hence why an assumption like that can't work.

Depends how long you've been listening to music.

I could knock off a list of 1000 albums I like without even thinking about it.
